A pioneer and one of the leaders in financing RES projects, Erste Bank a.d. Novi Sad, is this year’s Bronze Sponsor of the RES SERBIA 2025 conference.
Since participating in the financing of the first wind park in Serbia in 2015, Erste Bank has built a strong market position in the segment of large corporate clients, and, in accordance with its strategy and policies, has been dedicated to financing various energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for a decade. So far, over 80 projects have been financed in these areas, such as wind parks “Kovačica”, “Krivača”, “Košava”, “Kula”, “Pupin” and “Čibuk 2”, solar power plants and biogas plants. Independently or in cooperation with other financial institutions, the Bank has participated in the financing of 800 MW of green energy with over 400 million EUR, which currently represents more than two-thirds of all newly built RES capacities in Serbia. A responsible approach to financing is intrinsically woven into the Bank’s operations and strategic commitment, with the aim of actively contributing to a sustainable future for clients, employees and the overall well-being of the community.
This year, Erste Bank Serbia has secured a credit line of 15 million EUR thanks to the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union, as part of the SME Go Green program. These funds are intended for small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia that want to improve their business by investing in energy- and resource-efficient green technologies, thereby encouraging their sustainability and competitiveness in line with the EU’s Green Agenda. A particular focus will be on supporting investments in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors, as well as women-led businesses, in order to advance equitable access to climate finance and strengthen their role in the implementation of sustainable practices and green technologies.
Recognizing the huge potential for investments in Serbia’s green future, Erste Bank, not only as a leader, but also as a pioneer of the green transition, puts a commitment to sustainable business in the focus of its business, setting standards for how companies can encourage corporate impact on climate change.
As an ESG and CSR leader, Erste Bank is committed to activities that contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the use of energy that comes exclusively from renewable sources, measures to reduce energy consumption, a higher degree of recycling, as well as other aspects that affect the environment.
Erste Bank started its operations in Serbia exactly 20 years ago with the acquisition of the first and oldest financial institution in the country – Novi Sad Bank. Recognizing the inherited local experience of 160 years, the Bank has continued to develop, change, modernize and digitize as a member of Erste Group, one of the leading companies providing financial products and services in Central and Eastern Europe.
