Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) plans to continue modernizing its hydropower sector, which will further increase efficiency and extend the lifespan of existing facilities. These revitalizations are expected to bring around 200 million kilowatt-hours annually, focusing on four hydroelectric plants: “Vlasinska HE,” “Bistrica,” “Potpeć,” and “Đerdap 2.”
At the panel discussion “The Role of EPS in Serbia’s Green Energy Transition,” held during the 19th International Energy Fair, Miloš Colić, Director of New Energy Solutions and chairman of the Management Board of the Association RES Serbia, emphasized that EPS and the Association share the same values and are moving in the same direction.
Dragan Stanković, Director of the Maintenance and Investment Sector for Hydroelectric Power Plants and Renewable Energy Sources at EPS, noted that the Spatial Plan for the construction of the reversible hydroelectric plant “Bistrica” is in its final stages of approval, and there have been no objections from neighboring countries according to the Espoo Convention.
Predrag Đorđević, Project Manager for the “Kostolac” wind farm, highlighted that access roads have been built as part of the wind farm project, while the foundations for the wind towers, the transformer station, and the internal cable network are still under development. The plant is expected to be operational by October next year.
Jovan Tošić, Project Manager for the “Petka” solar power plant, announced that construction is expected to be completed by February next year, after which the handover will take place.
