At the RES SERBIA 2025 conference, one of the speakers will be Aleksandar Mijušković, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES). With more than three decades of experience in the energy sector and strategic insight into the development of electricity transmission infrastructure, Mijušković will participate in a panel discussion dedicated to the role of transmission system operators and the integration of renewable energy sources in the region.
Aleksandar Mijušković is a graduate electrical engineer with over three decades of experience in the field of power engineering. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System since June 2021, for several consecutive terms. Previously, he worked at the Office for Coordinated Auctions in Southeast Europe (SEE CAO), an organization in charge of allocating cross-border transmission capacities between the transmission system operators of Southeast Europe, which are also its founders.
In the period from 2014 to 2019, he held the position of Executive Director of SEE CAO, where he played a key role in the operational development and strengthening of the regional auction house. His contribution to the formation of this successful company began earlier – in the period 2012–2014 he was the Chairman of the Project Team and the Executive Director of the Project Company, responsible for the establishment of the SEE CAO and its functional launch.
From 1995 to 2009, he worked at the National Dispatch Center (EPCG), where he gradually progressed from operations dispatcher to chief engineer for analytics, energy billing and forecasting. Through these positions, he has gained valuable experience in the management of the electric transmission system, developing expertise in its optimization and analysis. From 2009 to 2012, he held the position of Director of the Sector for Regulatory Affairs, Legal and Human Resources, as well as International Cooperation, where he contributed to the strategic development and strengthening of the company.
He is actively involved in international energy organizations, is a member of the ENTSO-E Assembly and the Med-TSO Assembly. During his career, he was a member of the SEETSO TF working group, which brings together transmission system operators in South-East Europe, as well as a member of ENTSO-E, where he participated in the work of the Market Committee and the Regional Group for South-East Europe. He was also active in EUROELECTRIC, the European association of the electricity industry, through a working group dedicated to Southeast Europe. He is one of the key initiators of the project of connecting Montenegro and Italy with a submarine power cable and actively participated in negotiations with the Italian transmission system operator Terna, contributing to the implementation of this strategic energy venture. As a member of the Montenegrin delegation, he participated in the meetings of the plenary subcommittee and sectoral meetings of the enhanced permanent dialogue between the European Commission and Montenegro on transport, energy, environmental and regional policy.
Since 2003, he has been regularly participating in the Athens Forums, actively contributing to regional discussions on the development of the energy sector. During his career, he has built successful cooperation with transmission system operators, energy companies, the Energy Community Secretariat, as well as with international financial institutions. It is also a partner of the Institute for Energy of South-East Europe (IENE) in Athens. His expertise is recognized internationally, and he is often invited as a speaker at numerous conferences and seminars throughout Europe, where he has shared knowledge and experience in the field of electricity engineering and market integration. During his career, he has continuously improved his professional competencies through international programs and seminars in renowned institutions.
