Masdar Taaleri Generation, this year’s gold sponsor of the RES SERBIA 2025 conference, is leading the Čibuk 2 project, a 154 MW wind farm currently under construction in the South Banat municipality of Kovin, Serbia.
Building on the success of the Čibuk 1 project, a joint venture between Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy leader, and Finnish investor Taaleri Energia, which specializes in wind and solar power, Čibuk 2 represents a significant milestone in Serbia’s energy transformation. The wind farm is expected to become operational in 2026.
Construction of the supporting infrastructure necessary for seamless operation is nearing completion, while delivery and installation of 22 Nordex-manufactured wind turbines are underway. The wind farm is scheduled to start connecting to the transmission grid this September, marking the beginning of the project’s final phase.
Once operational, Čibuk 2 will generate approximately 400,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power over 62,000 homes. The project will also contribute substantially to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, avoiding approximately 311,200 tons of CO₂ a year.
