European Investement Bank – Driving the Energy Transition as Bronze Sponsor of RES SERBIA 2025

The European Investment Bank, as a key financial partner in the field of sustainable energy, is this year’s bronze sponsor of the RES SERBIA 2025 conference.

The European Investment Bank (EIB Global) continues to play a pivotal role in advancing climate action and energy security. In the Western Balkans, the Bank provides both financing and technical assistance for clean energy initiatives, including wind farms, solar power plants, energy efficiency upgrades, and infrastructure modernisation.

In Serbia, EIB-backed investments will facilitate the installation of more than 400,000 smart meters and support the rehabilitation of the country’s hydropower assets, key steps in modernising the national energy grid and increasing the integration of renewables.

Beyond capital, the EIB delivers advisory support through a range of programmes aimed at helping financial institutions and companies assess climate risks, implement sustainable practices, and scale green investment. This technical assistance is designed to foster more resilient business models, lower emissions, and higher competitiveness in global markets.

One flagship initiative where the EIB is participating, EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia, has mobilised close to €30 million to date, supporting over 60 green innovations in areas such as the circular economy, decarbonisation, and environment protection.

At the global level, the EIB’s climate finance reached a record €51 billion in 2024, representing 57% of its total lending. Of this, over €31 billion was directed toward energy efficiency, renewable energy, storage solutions, and grid infrastructure.
