Eco Forum 2025: Potentials and opportunities in the RES sector

This year’s Eco Forum was held from 9th to 11th April in Herceg Novi, bringing together experts, decision-makers and representatives of key organizations in the field of green energy. The event was attended by representatives of the Association RES Serbia, which was also this year’s partner of the Eco Forum.

During the second day of the event, a panel discussion titled “Regional Green Energy Potentials: Opportunities We Must Not Miss” was held, which was attended by experts from the RES sector, including members of the Association RES Serbia. The panelists were Iva Đinđić Ćosić, Miloš Kostić, MT-KOMEX, Hrisanti Angelovska, EVN North Macedonia and Miloš Mladenović SEEPEX. The panel was moderated by Vladimir Milanović, member of the Management Board of the Association RES Serbia.

CEO of SEEPEX, Miloš Mladenović, provided an overview of the current situation on the RES market, emphasizing the importance of batteries, as well as the flexibility of the market. He also spoke about the impact of auctions on the market and their role in creating a positive business environment for the state and investors.

Miloš Kostic, CEO of MT-KOMEX, presented the development of the RES sector from 2006 to the present from the point of view of investors. He also spoke about the differences in the first and second auctions, as well as the importance of battery storage and the implementation of electricity storage in the company’s projects.

Legal consultant in the field of energy, Iva Djindjic Cosic, spoke about the role of citizens in the energy transition through initiatives such as energy communities. She also emphasized the importance of monitoring changes in the regulatory framework, as well as the challenges faced by investors during the energy transition process. She presented an overview of the current regulatory framework in the Republic of Serbia, as well as potential solutions for its improvement.

Chrisanti Angelovska, Head of Environmental Protection at EVN Macedonia, spoke about the legislative frameworks in North Macedonia and their goals for energy independence, with a special focus on the green transition and environmental protection. She shared her experience in the implementation of the PCB equipment decontamination project with a special focus on the implementation steps from the perspective of the power distribution network.

The panelists agreed that market stability and a long-term investment framework are key to accelerating the energy transition in the region.
