World Energy Efficiency Day: The importance of saving energy for a green future

World Energy Efficiency Day is celebrated around the world on March 5, reminding us of the importance of rational use of energy and its impact on the environment.

This date was established in 1998 during the first international meeting of experts on energy efficiency in Austria.

Energy efficiency is the use of measures that allow the same effect to be achieved with less energy consumption. This includes improving thermal insulation, replacing joinery, using renewable energy sources such as solar panels, as well as switching to energy-efficient appliances. These measures not only reduce costs, but also contribute to the conservation of natural resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In recent years, a number of initiatives have been launched to improve energy efficiency. Subsidies are available to citizens to replace old boilers, insulate homes and install solar panels, which contribute to reducing energy consumption.

Marking this day is an opportunity for all of us to ask ourselves how we can contribute to the conservation of energy. Simple changes, such as turning off the lights in rooms we don’t use or switching to LED lighting, can have a significant impact on overall energy consumption.

World Energy Efficiency Day reminds us that every step in saving energy is important for the energy transition.
