The national consultations on the environment, held on April 13 at the Palace of Serbia, were organized with the support of the Swedish government in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia and the UNDP.
50 years after the adoption of the Stockholm Declaration, the first National Environmental Consultations were held as part of Serbia’s preparations for participation in the global conference ,,Stockholm + 50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity’’ in June 2022.
The first national consultations in Serbia were conceived as an inclusive discussion on a joint fight to preserve a healthy environment.
The four panels discussed various topics in the field of energy, environmental protection, sustainable development and public health, while the four main topics were: protection of ecosystems and biodiversity; green and inclusive recovery from COVID-19; the impact of the environment on public health and the role of young people in environmental protection.
The national reports of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the remaining 58 countries participating in the large international meeting organized by the Government of Sweden will be presented in Stockholm on June 2 and 3, 2022, with the aim of summarizing results achieved in the past 50 years, as well as to encourage joint efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the times to come.
