The Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences will speak about educating young people to work in the RES sector at the RES SERBIA 2024 conference

Prof. Dr. Boris Dumnić, the dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, will participate in the academic panel at the RES SERBIA 2024 conference, where he will talk about the education of young people for future work in the RES sector, as well as the relationship between the profession and science in the green energy sector.

Dr Dumnić Boris, Professor at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, was born in 1976. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, at the study program Power Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, study module Electrical Power Engineering. As a graduate engineer of electrical engineering and computer science, since January 2004 he has been employed at FTN, Department of Energy, Electronics and Telecommunications, at the Department of Power Electronics and Converters. He enrolled in postgraduate studies in the academic year 2003/2004 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electrical Power Engineering, specialization in power electronics, machines and drives, and in 2007 he defended his master’s thesis entitled ‘Control of an asynchronous machine in the operation of a wind farm without a generator’. He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled ‘Drive control with asynchronous generator and dual converter connected to the grid’ in 2013.

He is currently engaged in teaching at all levels of academic studies in the study programs Energetics, Electronics and Telecommunications, Measurement and Regulation, Clean Energy Technologies, as well as in the undergraduate and master applied studies Electrical Engineering: Electric Power Engineering – Renewable Energy Sources and Distributed Resources and Electrical Systems in Vehicles, in the following subjects: Modeling of Electrical Machines and Inverters, Electric Power Converters, Wind Power Plants, Renewable Sources and Small Electric Power Plants Power plants, Active distribution networks, Switching and protection technology.

He has participated in the implementation of a large number of national scientific research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, AP Vojvodina, the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, as well as in a number of international projects. He has participated in the development of a large number of projects in cooperation with the economy, which include the preparation and development of all forms of project and technical documentation, advisory services, project management, development of strategies and studies, supervision of the construction of electric power facilities and installations, production and testing of prototypes, etc. He has published more than 150 papers at domestic/international conferences as well as more than 15 papers in international journals from the SCI list.

He is a member of the International Association of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Professionals – Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering – IEEE, and in the period from 2019 to 2023 he was the President of the IEEE Section of Serbia and Montenegro. From 2010 to 2018, he was the Director of the Center for Renewable Sources and Electricity Quality. From 2015 to 2020, he served as Director of the Department of Energy, Electronics and Telecommunications. Since 2018, he has been the head of the Department of Power Electronics and Inverters. From 2020 to 2024, he served as Vice-Dean for Development and Finance of the Faculty. In 2023, he was elected President of the Republic Commission for Energy Networks, and from 2024 he will serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

He speaks English, is married and has two children.
