A co-founder of Alcazar Energy will speak at the RES SERBIA 2024 about the differences in energy projects in Western and Eastern Europe

Markus von Haniel, co-founder and partner of Alcazar Energy, will reveal at the RES SERBIA 2024 conference how energy projects differ in Western, Central, and Eastern Europe.

Markus is a co-founder and one of the partners of Alcazar Energy. He heads investment and project finance teams. Markus joined Alcazar Energy in 2014 and was responsible for project financing, structuring and negotiation.

Under his leadership, Markus arranged USD 470m debt facilities for AEP-I and prior to AEP-I he advised/arranged over USD 10bn of project financings. Markus worked for 5 years as an SVP in Mubadala’s Structured Finance & Capital Markets unit. As a senior transactor Markus led the structuring and negotiation of third party multi-sourced financings across Mubadala’s geographically diverse portfolio spanning sectors including: renewable energy, aluminium smelting, aerospace, infrastructure, utilities and leasing.

Markus worked in ABN AMRO Bank and latterly RBS’s project finance unit for approximately 14 years in both a financial advisory and lead arranging capacity.

Markus’ geographic focus was originally biased towards western Europe but broadened to emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa with a broad sector remit including power and infrastructure.

Markus has over 30 years of experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, a master’s in Energy Studies from Sussex University and an MBA from City University London.
