What is the role of EPS in electricity trading?

Assistant of Executive Director for Electric Power Portfolio Management of “Electric Power Industry of Serbia” David Žarković is participating in the RES SERBIA 2024 conference, which will be held on September 23rd and 24th in Vrdnik.

As of August 15, 2024, David Žarković, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, will hold the position of Assistant of Executive Director for Electric Power Portfolio Management of “Electric Power Industry of Serbia”.

He started his professional career at the Electric Power Industry of Serbia in 1999 as an intern in the Directorate for Energy Production and Transmission. Until 2005, first as a member and then as a leader of the PIU – Project Implementation Team EAR, composed of experts from EPS and the European Agency for Reconstruction for the implementation of the EPS Thermal Power Plant Rehabilitation Project, he worked on the preparation of the project implementation strategy, project documentation, tender procedures and supervision of the project implementation. After that, he became part of the Directorate for Electricity Trade, where in 2010 he was appointed Head of the Contracting and Billing Service, and two years later he was promoted to Director of the Free Market Trade Sector. From January to 15th of August 2015, he was Executive Director of Electricity Portfolio Management.

It develops the function of electricity trading on electricity exchanges in the country and the region, creating conditions for the Electric Power Industry of Serbia to become a full member of the Serbian, Hungarian, Croatian, Slovenian and Montenegrin stock exchanges.

He was a member of a small team of experts on behalf of the EPS Trade Directorate, which successfully implemented the opening of the electricity market in 2012.

He is the President of the Market Committee of the Serbian Power Exchange SEEPEX, a member of the professional association CIGRE Serbia – C5 Study Committee, as well as the European Association of Electricity Traders EFET.
