As of January 2026, Kelag International, regular member of RES Serbia, has unified its international subsidiaries under a single brand: Kelag International. The move strengthens the Group’s European identity and marks a strategic step toward a more coordinated approach to renewable energy development across 14 European markets. It reflects the Group’s ambition to become a key driver of Europe’s green energy transition through long-term, sustainable investments and strong regional partnerships.
A strategic unification to support international growthA strategic unification to support international growth
International entities now operating under the Kelag International brand were already part of the Group and have completed their legal and brand transition. This systematic alignment of brand identity is designed to enhance visibility, strengthen cooperation and facilitate the transfer of expertise across markets, while ensuring a consistent strategic and operational approach across the Group. With its headquarters in Klagenfurt and offices in nine countries, Kelag International is active across 14 European markets, combining deep local market knowledge, international development capabilities and a strong execution track record.
Some companies, such as Interenergo in Southeast Europe, have built strong local reputations over the past two decades. Under the Kelag International umbrella, this regional expertise is now embedded in a broader European platform covering Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean and the Iberian Peninsula.

– Uniting our international activities under the Kelag International brand is a strategic decision that positions us among the most ambitious players in Europe’s energy transition – said Christian Schwarz, Managing Director of Kelag International – We are combining decades of regional experience with the expertise of the Austrian KelagGroup to accelerate the development of renewable energy projects across the markets where we operate.
Local roots remain, strengthened by a European network
For partners, municipalities, industrial customers and employees, daily operations remain unchanged. Localteams continue to work in their respective markets, projects progress without interruption and long-standing partnerships remain at the core of the company’s approach. What changes is the scale and connectivity: local expertise is now supported by a wider European network, shared resources and coordinated strategic development.
A strong foundation for the next phase of development
Across its portfolio, Kelag International operates 54 renewable energy facilities with a total installed capacity of 280 MW, producing more than 680 GWh of green electricity annually, enough to supply nearly 200,000 households. Supported by more than 160 employees, this operational and project-development expertise forms the foundation for the company’s next growth phase.
Balanced technology mix for a resilient energy future
Kelag International follows a clear guiding principle: the balanced development of all key renewable energy technologies, from solar and wind to hydropower, tailored to the specific requirements of each market. In response to the growing share of renewables in Europe’s power system, the Group is increasingly focusing on flexibility solutions, system stability and security of supply. A particular emphasis is placed on the development of energy storage and battery systems, which are essential for grid balancing, price stability and long-term decarbonisation.

Current activities and outlook
Current development activity is strongest in Italy, followed by Croatia and the wider Balkan region, where several new renewable energy projects are in advanced stages of development and nearing completion. With a clear long-term strategy, Kelag International aims to reach 818 MW of installed capacity in operation by 2035 and generate 1,694 GWh of renewable electricity annually. Building on its strong regional foundations, diversified technology portfolio and growing international network, the Group is reinforcing its role as a long term partner in Europe’s energy transition. At the same time, Kelag International is actively seeking new opportunities for cooperation with large electricity consumers, offering stable, long-term and sustainable energy supply solutions.
– We believe in a future powered entirely by renewable energy. Our role is to help shape that future every day through international development, reliable operations and long-term partnerships in all the markets where we are present – Schwarz concluded.
