Under his leadership, Masdar has evolved from a pioneering renewables developer into a global clean energy giant, growing its portfolio to more than 65GW of clean energy capacity worldwide and advancing towards its ambition of delivering 100GW by 2030.
As Masdar’s longest-serving CEO, he brings more than three decades of experience in the energy sector to Masdar, with significant expertise across corporate finance, internal audit, and risk management. Since first joining Masdar nearly two decades ago, he has held senior leadership positions across the C-Suite – including the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer – prior to his appointment as CEO in 2016.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Al Ramahi has led Masdar’s evolution into a best-in-class organization underpinned by unmatched industrial capabilities, disciplined capital allocation, a robust balance sheet, investment-grade credit ratings, and strong returns for shareholders.
Mr. Al Ramahi holds a number of prominent board positions in the UAE and internationally. He serves as Chair of the Masdar Executive Committee; Chair of Saeta, Masdar’s renewable energy platform in Spain and the Iberian Peninsula; Vice-Chair of Terna Energy, Masdar’s platform in Greece and Eastern Europe; and Vice-Chair of Masdar Americas.
He is also active in the Sustainable Markets Initiative and serves on the Board of Directors for Shuaa 2 and Shuaa 4, the companies developing the respective phases of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, as well as an independent board member of Samruk-Kazyna, the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.
Mr. Al Ramahi is a recipient of the Terra Carta & Astra Carta Awards, awarded by His Majesty King Charles III of the UK and Commonwealth Realms, and the Order of National Merit, awarded by H.E. Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France, in recognition of his commitment to the UAE-France bilateral relationship. He has also been awarded the “Dustlik” Order of Friendship by H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, for strengthening cooperation between the UAE and Uzbekistan. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute and has been named CEO of the Year twice by S&P Global Platts, among various other international accolades.
