The management of the Association Renewable Energy Sources of Serbia (RES Serbia), together with numerous members, attended the ceremonial inauguration of the Čibuk 2 wind farm at The St. Regis Belgrade, officially marking the opening of the largest wind energy complex in Serbia and the Western Balkans.
The Čibuk complex now reaches a total installed capacity of 312 MW, representing more than €500 million in foreign direct investment into Serbia’s energy infrastructure and providing enough clean electricity to power around 178,800 households.
This project makes a significant contribution to strengthening Serbia’s energy security through reliable and competitively priced domestic electricity production, while also supporting the national target for renewables to account for 45% of total electricity generation by 2030.
The inauguration was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as executives from Masdar and Taaleri Energia, the companies that jointly developed the project.

Čibuk 2, with its 22 Nordex turbines, produces up to 336,000 MWh of clean electricity annually enough for about 80,000 households, while avoiding approximately 311,200 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. In addition to the operational Čibuk complex, Masdar is developing a portfolio of more than 200 MW of new solar, wind, and battery projects in Serbia, creating a platform for further growth across Central and Eastern Europe.

Gratitude goes to members from Masdar and Taaleri Energia, who two years ago at the RES SERBIA 2024 conference signed financing agreements for these projects, and this year organized a prestigious ceremony as a prelude to RES SERBIA 2026.
