Chinese companies Linglong International Europe d.o.o. Zrenjanin and HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel are the first to submit requests to Elektromreža Srbije for the connection of solar power plants to the transmission system under the status of active customers.
Based on the recently adopted amendments to the Regulation on the conditions of electricity delivery and supply, they will be able to operate as active customers – end-users who consume or store electricity produced within their own facilities or independently sell the electricity they generate.
According to the submitted request, tire manufacturer Linglong plans to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 39.9 MW in Zrenjanin, scheduled to be commissioned during 2027.
HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel plans to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 63 MW within its steel plant in Smederevo, and according to the submitted documentation, the plant is expected to start operating in 2028.
According to publicly available data, there are currently around 12 GW of active requests for connection to the transmission system.
