Principal Energy Modelling Consultant at the Mott MacDonald and one of the authors of “RES Serbia Guidebook for Investors in Renewables in Serbia” Dr. Nenad Jovanović, will moderate a panel discussion at the RES SERBIA 2026 conference once again.
Nenad Jovanović is and energy expert with 14 years of experience in the field of electricity market modeling, electricity system development planning and integration of renewable energy sources. He has participated in numerous international projects related to long term energy planning and decarbonization scenarios, collaborating with governments and investors. He has experience in Europe, Asia and Africa, with a particular focus on investment planning and bankability assessment of energy projects.
He is one of the authors of the first Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Serbia for the period up to 2030 with a vision to 2050, which was adopted in July 2024. He is also one of the authors of the RES Serbia Guidebook for Investors in Renewables in Serbia, which was developed with the technical support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
During his undergraduate and master’s studies, he was a member of the High Education Expert Team of the Republic of Serbia, appointed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development at the initiative of the European Commission. He provided guidance to higher education institutions in quality assurance, curriculum reform, national and European qualification frameworks. A significant activity was cooperation between Higher Education Institutions and commerce, as well as planning of dual education in the higher education system.
He has a joint doctoral degree from the Erasmus Mundus program “Sustainable Energy Strategies and Technologies”, which includes a consortium of universities from Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden. He began his international experience working as a researcher at the Institute for Research in Technologies in Madrid, focusing on the development of electricity market models, taking into account technical, economic and regulatory aspects. Before going abroad, he obtained a master’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Niš.
