At the ‘’RES SERBIA 2026’’ conference, taking place on 15 & 16 September in Vrdnik, Damien Sorrell, Head of the European Investment Bank’s Regional Hub for the Western Balkans, will address participants. A seasoned lawyer with extensive international experience, Sorrell has worked on legal and financial operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Damien Sorrell is a French and British national, qualified as a lawyer in both France and England & Wales. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, an LLB in English Law from King’s College London, and a Maîtrise in French Law from Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne.
He began his career in the project finance department of Linklaters LLP. Since May 2010, Damien has been working at the European Investment Bank (EIB). Until December 2018, he served as in-house legal counsel for operations outside the EU, advising the Bank on sovereign, private sector, and project finance operations in MENA, Africa, and Asia.
In January 2019, he joined the EIB’s External Action Representation team to open the Bank’s Beirut office, before moving in September 2022 to the financial inclusion team for the EU neighbourhood as Senior Loan Officer.
Since 1 September 2024, he has been the EIB’s Head of Regional Hub for the Western Balkans.
