Ivan Asanović, Director of the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES), will participate in the RES SERBIA 2026 conference, where he will speak about the challenges of connecting and integrating renewable energy sources into Montenegro’s power system.
Ivan Asanović has been leading CGES since September 2021. He served as CEO until June 2026, when, following the company’s transition to a two-chamber management model, he was appointed Executive Director. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – majoring in Power Engineering and Automation. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro in Podgorica.
Under his leadership, CGES has implemented a significant investment cycle, improved corporate governance and further strengthened its position as one of the leading electricity transmission companies in the region, while intensifying regional and international cooperation and creating conditions for an accelerated energy transition.
Since 2010, it has been participating in the implementation of the project of submarine electricity interconnection between Montenegro and Italy, one of the most important energy projects in the region. During his career at CGES, he served as the Head of the Secondary and Information Systems Service.
As a representative of CGES, he actively participates in the work of numerous international expert bodies and working groups in the field of energy. He is a member of the Chamber of Engineers of Montenegro, the national and Paris committees of CIGRE, the author of several professional papers and a participant in numerous international conferences.
He has received several prestigious awards for his contribution to the development of the energy sector, the improvement of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility, among which the award for the best manager in 2024 stands out.
